Simply Delicious Apple Crumble

A Great British classic! Perfect for when you need a bit of comfort food! Loved by all and quite possibly the easiest dessert to make in the world. I firmly believe anyone can make a crumble and they're great starting point for getting kids involved with the cooking, or maybe even students!

For me, a good crumble is all about a super crunchy top and a sweet but tangy filling and this recipe provides exactly that.

Super Delicious Apple Crumble

For the crumble:
300g plain flour
175g brown sugar
200g butter (I like to use 150g butter and 50g peanut butter for extra crunch!)
For the filling:
450g apples (about 5), peeled, cored and cut into small chunks
50g brown sugar
1 tbsp flour (You can also add a pinch of ground cinnamon if you fancy it)
Preheat the over to 180C/350F/Gas Mark 4

Place the flour and sugar in a bowl and mix well. Add the butter(s) and rub it into the flour and sugar using your fingertips until it ressembles bread crumbs. Don't worry about it all being even, different sized crumbs add to the texture!

In a separate bowl mix together the apple, sugar, flour and cinnamon (if using). Pour it into a baking dish (around 24cm)

Put the crumble mixture on top and slightly press it down for certain crunchiness!

Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes. The top should be brown and the apple mixture bubbling.

Serve with custard, cream or ice cream (or all three!!)
