Superbly Scrumptious Salted Caramel Sauce

Dear Reader,

I am about to share with you a sauce that will change your life.

Now I know this is a large statement but this recipe for a salted caramel sauce will transform any dessert into a masterpiece and is equally delicious spooned right out of the pan. It's gooey and sweet but it also has a heavenly kick of saltiness that brings a delicious savoury note to it.

Anyone can do this recipe - it's REALLY easy to make! - and I'm confident everyone will like it too. So don't delay - you simply *have* to try this sauce!

Superbly Scrumptious Salted Caramel Sauce

75g best-quality unsalted butter
50g soft light brown sugar
50g caster sugar
50g golden syrup
125ml double cream
1 tsp coarse sea salt (not table salt!)

Melt the butter, sugars and syrup in a heavy based saucepan over a medium heat. Simmer for 3 minutes, swirling occasionally.

Add the cream and salt, stir with a wooden spoon and taste to see if you want more salt. Continue to cook for a further 2 minutes then take off the heat and transfer to a jug for serving.

Serve over almost any dessert, though it goes particularly well with desserts that include apples, chocolate or vanilla.

I served mine over my foolproof chocolate fondants with a scoop of my velvety vanilla ice cream.
